In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
-Romans 8:26
Over the past few weeks, our family has been working on finalizing our home-study amendment. Throughout this process we have been reminded of the challenges that come when people try to communicate through email. We have a home study agency and a placement agency both have invested much time and effort in our behalf seeking to complete this amendment. Throughout these past few weeks I have not questioned the effort nor the sincerity of either agency, but I have found that somewhere along the line communication was lacking. This has left Tiffany and I with many questions, what can we do, how many phone calls is appropriate, how hard do we push to get things done? No matter how many questions have come, one answer has been sufficient, pray.
We have found that as we pray to our Heavenly Father, the Creator of the Universe we do not need to be afraid that something may be lost in translation or communication. Paul makes it clear that the Spirit himself is actively involved in our prayers expressing the truth of our hearts to the Father. As we have seen the communication errors that occur all to often in our world, we have been reminded that our God knows and hears our prayers. Through this process there are times where we are actively pursuing paperwork, requesting forms, or making phone calls, but most importantly we find ourselves actively praying for the Lord's hand to work in and through us. As we have prayed for the Lord to move we have seen on multiple occasions Him confirm this direction in our lives. This past weekend our church did a fundraiser on our behalf selling rolls. The encouragement, support, and affirmation we received through this gave us confidence and encouragement that we are in the right place. Although there have been challenges getting this home-study amended the Lord has provided continual encouragement through family, friends, and our church body.
We received the phone call today that our home-study amendment is done and ready to pick up! We will file three copies with our Dossier, and send one to the USCIS with our I-600A form which is an application for advance processing of orphan petition. Once we are approved by USCIS we will finalize our Dossier packet and send it off. We continue to move forward one step at a time, and have found continual encouragement each step of the way!
